At the Old Ball Game

Last night we kicked off our holiday weekend
by going to see the Indianapolis Indians play
the Toledo Mudhens at Victory Field.

Katie and her roommate Kasey drove down
from Purdue to meet us.

We started off with a picnic in the outfield...

...with Jersey Mike's subs!  Num~num~num.

It was a perfect end of summer evening.

AND, the Indians won!

The night ended with fireworks
under a Blue Moon.

Happy Labor Day everyone!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Victory Field, Indianapolis

One night this week we went to
the great American pastime, a baseball
game.  Our local team is the Indianapolis
Indians, a minor league, Triple A team
of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Victory Field is a lovely ballpark
where families can come for an
evening without breaking the bank.
Here is the picnic area where we often
watch the first inning while having dinner.

I love that the park is located
in downtown Indianapolis, it
is great to see the balls being
hit out to the skyline of the city.
And after the game you can walk
to countless restaurants and pubs.

Even though it is located in a
big city it has plenty of small
town Midwestern charm.  I think
it is fun when they give a free car
wash to the dirtiest car in the
parking lot or deliver a pizza
to a particular seat in the stadium.

Here is a photo of Mr. Wonderful
in the announcer's booth.

He calls it the best seat
in the house.

I love to settle in to watch
the game and eat Cracker
Jack's, pretzels and cotton candy.

The sunsets are always beautiful
in the "Big Sky" of Indiana.

The evening ends with a
fireworks display, reflecting in
all the buildings.
