Chock-A-Block Wednesday

Dutchman's Puzzle

I'll be flying in and out of Amsterdam
a few times in the next few weeks so
this block seemed appropriate.  I hope to
see windmills and tulip fields from the air.

Fabric Requirements:

Fabric A: White
16 - 3 1/2" squares - Mark
a diagonal line on back.

Fabric B,C,D,E: Red, Green Blue, Yellow
2 - 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangles
of each color

Make Flying Geese Units:

Place 3 1/2" square on left side of
rectangle with right sides together
and sew a thread width above drawn
line to accomodate the fold of the
fabric.  Press seam to the corner and
trim back 2 layers of fabric to 1/4".
Repeat process to right side of
rectangle.  Square to 3 1/2" x 6 1/2".

Do this to all rectangles, making 8
in total.

Pair rectangles as shown and sew together
taking care to have precise points.
Square to 6 1/2".

Layout units as shown and sew together
in 2 rows.  Press seam in row 1 to the right
and seam in row 2 to the left.

Sew rows together and press final seam
open to reduce bulk.  Square to 12 1/2".
