Civil War Remembered ~ Block 18

Union Square

We are quilting along with
Barbara Brackman's Civil War Quilt.

Fabric Requirements:

Fabric A: Dark (Green)
4 - 2 1/2" squares

Fabric B:  Medium (Beige)
4 - 2 7/8" squares, cut on diagonal

Fabric C:  Light (Gold)
5 - 2 3/8" squares

Fabric D:  Dark (Red)
4 - 2 3/8" squares

I was inspired by everyone's
fussy cuts this week and
went along with the crowd!

If you are using fussy cuts,
layout the block first and
then sew the units together
so everything is going in the
correct direction.

Sew Fabric B triangle to
Fabric A square as shown.
Trim dogear and then sew
the other Fabric B triangle
as shown.  Make 4.

Layout Fabric C & D squares
as shown and sew together in
3 rows.  Press seams in rows
1 & 3 to the inside and seams
in row 2 to the outside.

Sew rows together.

Press these seams open.

Square center 9 Patch to 6 1/8".

Sew triangle units to opposite
sides of  9 Patch.  Press seams
open and trim dogears.

Sew remaining triangle units to
opposite sides of 9 Patch and
press seams open to reduce bulk.

Square to 8 1/2".

Here is another one.

This could be an interesting quilt.

Checkout everyone's blocks at
Dustin's Flickr site:

I just got back from Paducah
and collected some more Civil
War fabric to use for this project!
