A Day in Buda

Today we headed over the Chain Bridge to visit the Castle Hill area of Buda, though the city is called Budapest, one side of the Danube is Buda and the other Pest.

We rode the funicular up the hill.

We toured the exterior of the Castle.  It is a cold snowy day but there were plenty of people exploring the area.

We also toured the beautiful Matyas Church.

Look at the roof, it looks like a quilt.

The interior of the church is painted with wonderful designs.  Here is a close-up to give an example of the color and style.

We found a beautiful restaurant in the area and had pots of traditional goulash for lunch while watching the snow fall.

Tonight the Christmas Market!
