Courage

Happy Birthday America!

On a day filled with parades, cookouts and fireworks,
I always make sure to remember the brave men who
committed high treason to win independence for
our new nation.

The Revolutionary Army was made up of a rag-tag
group of men who were farmers or blacksmiths or
shopkeepers.  They had to fight perhaps the greatest
military force of the age.  Let's not forget all they left
behind, the wives and mothers and children left to
keep the farms or shops going, all the while not
knowing the fate of their loved ones.

We also must remember the help from our friends,
the Dutch, the Spanish and most importantly the
French.  Without the help of France we probably
could not have won the war.

And all of this took tremendous courage...

Every day I embrace my unalienable rights of
Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
