Just Takes 2 - Set 2

Here are the others...

The final blocks from Set 2.

This is THE worst block I have ever
made.  I love precision in my quilting
and there is nothing precise about this.
After cutting, sewing, ripping and a little
cursing I finally finished and it was the
wrong size.  I added a few strips to 2 sides
and squared it up because I never wanted
to make this block again!!!!

I think I'll go lose myself in some
felt and embroidery today...

Just Takes 2 Mystery Quilt

A Few More of Set 2

Here are a few more of Set 2
of the Just Takes 2 Quilt.

Sadly, I have not been enjoying
this project and I'm not sure I
will continue with it.  I suppose I'll
try one more set and see from there.

More tomorrow.

Just Takes 2 Mystery Quilt ~ Block 10

I Did It!

I had a very restless night last
night, I was anticipating the new
instructions that would be posted
today for the mystery quilt.  I couldn't
wait to get started.  When I finally
saw the new blocks, my heart sank...
Paper Piecing.
I don't know how to do paper piecing.

Back in 2008 when I really started
taking quilting seriously ~ meaning
actually finishing the projects I started,
I won a 2nd place ribbon in a fairly
large quilt show in Ft. Wayne, IN.
(The ribbon shown above is from
another quilt show, but it was the
only photo I had.)  As I was being
photographed in front of my quilt, a
viewer passed by and asked if I had
used foundation piecing.  I replied with
a very noncommittal, "ahhhhmmmm".
A few days later I asked a quilting friend,
"What IS foundation piecing?"  Paper  Piecing,
she replied.  Oooohhhhhh.
No, the quilt was not paper pieced.
And now 3 1/2 years later, I still had not
ever done paper piecing.  I quickly got into
designing my own quilts and since I didn't do
paper piecing, I never used it in my designs.
Until today, I learned off the internet.
I confess, I didn't love it but I'm not ashamed
of the outcome.  I probably should take a class
from someone who really knows what they are
doing and maybe I'll love it.  But for now, I'm
happy to have gotten through today's block.
More to come later in the week...

of fiber artists from all over the world,
I'm in.  I'll be working on the
