The Perpetual Scallion?

Or Things I Learned on Pinterest...

I know they are not everyone's cup of
tea, but I love scallions.  Recently, the
price of scallions in my area has shot
through the roof.  So, when I came across
this post on Pinterest, I had to give it a
try.  The post said, if you have a bunch of
wilted scallions, don't throw them away,
cut off the greens and place the cut ends
in a glass of water and place in a sunny
window and you will have perpetual scallions!
Really?

Ten days ago, I took a bunch of
organic scallions and gave it a try.
If you look closely at the photo above
you can see where I cut the bunch.

A healthy root system has formed.
I take them out of the glass and wash
the roots and add fresh water to the
glass occasionally.

And here we are 10 days later.

Thanks Pinterest!
