Christmas Ornament Class

Today I taught a class on Felt Holiday
Ornaments for 12 lovely students.

We had carols and cookies and
lots of fun!

Check out the work of some of the
students.  I didn't get a shot of everyone's
ornament because some photos came out
blurry or the student may have been away
from the classroom having a little retail therapy.

Note to students:  please send a photo of your
finished piece and I'll post them on the American
Homestead facebook page.

My Guest Appearance

I was up well before dawn this morning to
drive a few hours south to Columbus, IN to
make a guest appearance at the Quilter's
Holiday Extravaganza.

This is what I call the American Homestead
Corner of the booth of The Quilt Shoppe.

Dawn had a little table set up for me where
I could demonstrate the stitching on the felt
ornaments, sign some autographs and show
people the ways they can use the feltwork in
their homes all year round.

The new felt kits in the American Homestead
European Folk Art colors are now available.

I wish I could wheel this little cart home
with me!

I love how the folk art colors look on
this white tree.
The extravaganza continues on Saturday
until 4 pm.

Building the Empire

Feltwork Patterns at JoAnn's

Yesterday a friend of mine told me
she saw my patterns at JoAnn's.

So last night I had to go see for
myself.  Yes, six new feltwork
American Homestead patterns
 are in JoAnn's stores now.

Very exciting!

Me Time ~ 7-24-12

Here is someone's latest antique find.

A Christmas quilt just back from the quilter.

We are prepping my feltwork pattern displays
for the big Shop-Hop in Kokomo this weekend.

The patterns will be available at
The Quilt Shoppe's booth on Friday
and Saturday if you are attending
the big event.

Building the Empire

Start the Presses!

After months and months of work:
designing, making, writing patterns,
doing technical illustrations ~ by hand,
and photo shoots, the next 13 American
Homestead feltwork patterns are off to
the printer.  They will be making their
debut at the International Quilt Market
in Kansas City in May.

Felt is the New Black.

Okay, maybe that's going too far...

I can only speak from personal experience,
but feltwork is hot right now.  I have been
working in felt alot lately and from what I have
been seeing on Pinterest, I'm not the only one
with an interest in that area.

One reason may be the wonderful felts
that are now available.  Don't limit
yourself to the 4/$1 felt squares in the
craft shops.  Go to quilt or needlework
shops and you will find higher quality
felts in delicious colors.  Felt is so easy to
take to a craft group ~ no machines, cutting
mats, etc.  Felt is very forgiving, the edges
remain crisp no mater how much you work
with it.  And, there are endless possibilities.

I have come out with a few feltwork
patterns recently...

...and there are many more in the works.
Stay tuned!
