Civil War Remembered ~ Block 46

Apple Tree


We are quilting along with Barbara
Brackman's 2011 Civil War Quilt.


Fabric Requirements:

Fabric A: White print
6 - 2 1/2" squares

Fabric B: Green
4 - 2 1/2" squares

Fabric C: Red
2 - 2 1/2" squares

Fabric D: Brown
1 - 4 1/2" square

Fabric E: White
2 - 2 1/2" squares


Place Fabric E 2 1/2" squares on opposite
corners of Fabric D 4 1/2" square.  Sew a
thread width away from drawn line on outer
side of drawn line to accomodate turn of fabric.
Press to the outside and trim back 2 layers of
fabric.  Square to 4 1/2".


Make 4-Patch Units:

Layout 2 1/2" squares as shown and sew
together in 2 rows.  Press row 1 to the right
and row 2 to the left.


Sew rows together, press seam in Fabric A/B
units to to top and seam in Fabric A/C unit
to the bottom.  Square to 4 1/2".


Layout units as shown and sew together
in 2 rows.  Press seam in row 1 to the right
and seam in row 2 to the left.


Sew rows together and press final
seam open to reduce bulk. 
Square to 8 1/2".
