Elle's Kitchen: Sneakers

Hot Chocolate with Peppermint Schnapps

It's that time of year when I start to
feel cold and never really warm up
until the Spring thaw.  I admit, being on
a trail each day for at least 75 minutes
does not help the situation.  I try to
warm up by putting on my German
angora wool socks, taking hot baths
and sitting by the fire.  Sometimes,
when I'm really chilled I'll make Sneakers.

Heat the milk until warm but do
not boil it, add chocolate syrup, I
prefer Hershey's Special Dark because
I love dark chocolate.  Pour into a
mug and add Peppermint Schnapps.

Be careful, they can sneak up on you.

I serve mine in cafe au lait bowls that
I found in a lovely little shop on the Ile
Saint-Louis on a beautiful Spring day
when I was roaming around Paris
with Mr. Wonderful.  When I drink
this, it always warms me up ~ I think
about Spring and Paris and love.

Enjoy!
