Civil War Remembered ~ Block 11

London Square

We are following along
with Barbara Brackman's
2011 Civil War Quilt, this
is week #11.

Cut a Dark and Medium 6 7/8"
square then cut on diagonal.
Cut 4 Light, 2 Dark and 2 Medium
2 7/8" squares, then cut on diagonal.

Make half square triangles
using 4 dark and 4 light triangles,
sew together along long edge.
Square to 2 1/2".

This is the view from the back.
Layout and sew together as shown.
Take care in pressing to aid in
achieving precise points.  Press seams
in columns 1 & 3 to the top and seams
in columns 2 & 4 to the bottom.
Pin seams, "locking" the intersections
of the seams together and sew.

I pressed these seams open
to reduce bulk and then
trimmed long edges.

Sew large triangles to center unit
along long edges.  Refer to photo
for placement.

Here is one I made using
4 fabrics.  Check out everyone's
blocks at Dustin's flickr site:
